Real Time Ultrasound (RTUS) is key in diagnosing a number of muscular injuries including the pelvic floor.  The pelvic floor is a group of muscles that attach to the front, back and sides of the pelvic bone and sacrum to support the organs in the pelvis.  It is crucial in core stability.

Research shows that many people use their abdominal muscles excessively while bearing down (putting too much pressure) on the pelvic floor and this may cause increased continence issues and low back problems.

At Total Balance, we are able to assess and teach proper pelvic floor activation using RTUS.  This is especially useful to people who have recently had a child, have continence issues, and/or are suffering from chronic low back pain.

There is good evidence to show that strengthening your pelvic floor muscles and making some lifestyle changes can reduce or resolve symptoms of a pelvic floor weakness.  With our help and the ability to visually facilitate core stability exercise programs, the use of RTUS will enhance your recovery.
