Karen gained a broad experience base through working in public hospitals in Ireland and New Zealand before branching into private practice on arriving Australia in 2010. She enjoys treating a variety of conditions including sports injuries and spinal conditions. Running assessments and cycling assessments are something she is passionate about, knowing the importance of these through her own experience with triathlon. After being fortunate to work alongside the orthopaedic surgeons at Melbourne Shoulder and Elbow centre for 8 years, Karen has gained extensive experience in the management of post operative shoulders and conservative management for shoulders
Karen has attended regular professional development throughout her career, more recently this has been focussed on running retraining, cycling assessments, general sports injury management, clinical pilates and dry needling. Addressing the cause of injuries and working on prevention of recurrence are key elements of Karen’s injury management and she believes client education is also essential for successful outcomes.
Outside of work, Karen is a keen long distance triathlete, having completed Ironman Western Australia in 2017 and 2018 and competed at the Ironman World Championships in Kona in 2018. In the past she participated at national and international level in karate, western style kickboxing and taekwondo.
